With 13 renowned wine appellations there is much to explore. Healdsburg itself is located at the crossroads of the Dry Creek, Russian River and Alexander Valley wine appellations.
Winery tours can be arranged by limousine, jeep, van, fire truck or bike or you can explore on your own the more than 100 area wineries with a Russian River Wine Road map.
Festivals, open houses, special events, wine tasting dinners, barrel tasting, concerts and theater performances happen every month at the area wineries.
The Inn is within walking distance of the historic Healdsburg plaza and the many great restaurants that have made Healdsburg a dining Mecca.
Artists have long been attracted to the natural beauty of Healdsburg and surrounding Sonoma County. The town alone has 11 local art galleries within walking distance of the plaza.
There are hundreds of artist's studios throughout the county where visits can be arranged. "Snoopy" fans will enjoy the Charles Schulz Museum.
Kayakers enjoy paddling along the Russian River that starts in Healdsburg and goes out to the mouth of the Pacific Ocean.
Picnic, boating, waterskiing, swimming and fishing are available at nearby Lake Sonoma or head to the coast for deep-sea fishing, kayaking, tide pool exploration or sunbathing.
Hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers take pleasure among trees 310 feet-tall and 1,400 years-old at Armstrong Redwoods State Preserve and the Austin Creek Recreational Area with its 20 miles of trails and panoramic wilderness views.
The land that produces such wonderful grapes is also well known for growing exceptional produce, orchards, nuts and other foods. There are more than 100 farms that are open to the public.
Farmers' Markets are held throughout the area. People flock from San Francisco to Healdsburg for the farm fresh produce that local chef/owners serve in tantalizing dishes in Zagat rated restaurants.
