The chill in the air means it’s time to come to Healdsburg and enjoy the warmth of our hospitality.

The wineries are a bit quieter, now that the harvest is over. A number of tasting rooms have cozy fireplaces. Shuffle through the fall leaves and sit on a sofa in front of the fire, sampling Sonoma County’s acclaimed zinfandels or pinots.

It’s not too early to purchase tickets for the 23rd Annual Winter WINEland, Jan 17th-18th, 2015.
Over 140 area wineries will be offering limited production wines, new releases and library wines. It’s a good chance to meet the winemakers, too. Go to http://www.wineroad.com for all the information. The Wine Road site also has maps, recipes and detailed information about member wineries, including special amenities.

WINEland tickets make a good Christmas or Hanukkah gift. We still have rooms available at the Inn that weekend, but we book up quickly. Call us soon for reservations!

While turkey is the star of upcoming Thanksgiving dinners, here is a quick, light appetizer to whet your guests’ appetites.
Crostini with Pear and Gorgonzola

Slice a baguette on the diagonal into 1/3 inch slices. Brush both sides with a Sonoma County olive oil. Lightly salt bread (optional). Bake on cookie sheet in 350 degree oven until golden (about 10-15 minutes) – watch carefully, so they don’t burn.

When cool, spread Gorgonzola cheese on each crostini and top with one or two pear slices (sliced thinly). Sprinkle with chopped walnuts and drizzle lightly with honey.
