Recreation opportunities abound in Healdsburg and the wine country.

Cycle through the Dry Creek, Alexander or Russian River Valleys, past vineyards and rustic buildings. Or, hike the trails at nearby Lake Sonoma.

At the Inn we offer a complimentary Guest Pass for one person to Healdsburg’s Parkpoint Health Club. Or, get up at very early o’clock and join Lucy for LiveFit’s boot camp, then head back to the Inn for a fresh, delicious buffet breakfast that always includes smoothies.

There are still rooms available for the week of the Jazz Festival, May 30th to June 8th. Even the legendary Charlie Musselwhite will perform in four concerts. http://www.healdsburgjazzfestival.org

Our Tuesday evening concerts in the Plaza start in May. Bring a picnic and enjoy live music from 6-8:00 p.m. The schedule includes jazz, blues, Latin and country…something for everyone.

Citiesjurnal.com noted that Healdsburg was named “#1 in the Top 15 Small Town Cities in California.” Healdsburg seems to land on a “best of” list every few weeks. And, Haute Living online recently named it their Haute Getaway.

The town’s roses are spectacular right now! Stroll through our neighborhoods or take a self-guided tour of Ferrari-Carano’s acres of incredible gardens that include fish ponds, foot bridges, and a rippling stream. http://www.ferrari-carano.com

The Russian River Rose Company is close by, near Westside Road. Wander through their Rose Allee, under the heady scent of hundreds of roses. Upcoming programs include: May Day Festival on May 3rd and 4th, with Maypole dancing; Mother’s Day Open Garden on May 11th; and a special Memorial Day weekend event on May 24th, 25th and 26th. http://www.russian-river-rose.com

A favorite smoothie recipe:

Springtime Delight – Lemon Raspberry Smoothies

Juice of 1 lemon plus grated or zest of rind
Frozen or fresh raspberries (1 bag or basket)
2 personal sized yogurts – 1 lemon, 1 raspberry
Milk or cranberry juice – approx. ½ to 1 Cup

Blend in food processor or blender to taste – makes 2 regular size smoothies or 8 shot glass size

Note: If using fresh raspberries add ice or freeze the raspberries prior to blending for a smooth icy texture.
