November 23, 2014 - Now in Healdsburg
Do you hear sleigh bells? We do in Healdsburg. Our Downtown Holiday Party is held November 28th, the Friday after Thanksgiving, from 4-8:00 p.m. It’s a town get-together, with locals, out-of-town family members and visitors all gathering for an old-fashioned holiday party. Horse-drawn carriages offering free rides provide the sleigh bells, carolers and musicians perform on street corners: enjoy a costumed Dickens chorus, children’s choir, live jazz and the antics of a clown and magician. We can even promise snow, with the snow-making machine at the shop Gathered! Santa will make an appearance (of course), and holiday beverages and treats will be available at the different stores and businesses. Don’t miss the Toyland exhibit at the Museum, either.
It’s a good time to get ideas for Christmas and Hanukkah – for yourself and friends. Camellia Inn owner, Lucy, just put together her fall-winter wardrobe from local shops. She loves Zizi, Gina’s Boutique, Bella and Rainsong Shoes.
For gifts, stop by One World, Copperfield Books or Options.
Stop for lunch at Costeaux French Bakery, and sip evening libations at downtown wineries, which are open until 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. for the holidays.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Camellia Inn. Putting together a post-Thanksgiving meal? Here’s a quick recipe using that left-over turkey.
Sonoma County Turkey Roll-Ups
1 Tbsp. mayonnaise
1 (10-in.) flour tortilla (from La Tortilla Factory), or spinach tortilla
Shredded Romaine Lettuce
2 slices thinly sliced turkey breast (about 2 oz.)
1/2 small avocado, thinly sliced
1/4 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese or 1 slice Muenster cheese
2 slices tomato
1 slice red onion
Spread mayonnaise on tortilla, then top with remaining ingredients. Fold ends over and roll up.
