Here are some of the specials and events planned for early 2015:
Sassy Salsa Sunday – January 11, 2015
Hot and spicy dancing in the middle of winter? At Camellia Inn, we say “yes!” On January 11th, we are turning our large, double parlors into a beautiful ballroom. We’ll offer dance lessons, and a practice party from 3-6:00 p.m., a salsa bar from 3-5:00 p.m and a taco truck style dinner from 5-7:00 p.m. Enjoy a full, Latin-inspired breakfast on Monday morning. This special includes an overnight lodging for two, dancing, dinner and a full breakfast on the Monday morning of your stay. Rates are $219 for a Queen room; $269 for a King Deluxe.

Robert Burns Weekend – February 6, 7, 8, 2015
Celebrate the birthday of Scotland’s most famous bard with a Celtic weekend at the Camellia Inn. On Friday afternoon, begin with a creative writing workshop. Create your own memoir with notable writer Shonnie Brown. Saturday night is the Burns Supper, with song, poetry and a traditional Scottish dinner, including a “Haggis Ceremony” featuring the highland bagpipes. Speaking of haggis -- there will be a “make-your-own vegetarian haggis” workshop on Sunday, after you’ve relaxed and enjoyed your full breakfast. The weekend for two includes two nights lodging, a full breakfast each morning, the writing workshop, dinner celebration and cooking class. Rates are $595 for a Queen room; $750 for a Queen Deluxe; $850 for a King Deluxe.

Up and Away – Sonoma County Skies – Winter 2015
Start the new year right – with a helicopter tour over beautiful Sonoma County. The Helico Sonoma team offers soaring tours over the Dry Creek and Russian River valleys or the Pacific coast. Your trip begins at the Charles Schulz Sonoma County airport. Take fabulous aerial photos of Sonoma County and beyond. Our Camellia Inn special includes a 20-minute tour flight for two people, followed by wine and food pairing at Williamson Wines in downtown Healdsburg. Rates are $475 for a Queen room; $495 for a Queen Deluxe; $575 for a King.  http://www.helicosonoma.com/

Thanksgiving is almost here.  Looking for an alternative to pumpkin pie?  Try one of our favorite desserts using fall apples.
Camellia Inn French Apple Quiche
2 cups peeled and sliced tart cooking apples
2 Tbsp. dried currants, soaked in ¼ c. brandy for 10 minutes; then drained
½ tsp. cinnamon
3 eggs
1 c. heavy cream
½ c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. salt
grated lemon rind

1 partially baked pie shell

Arrange the apple slices in the pie shell. Sprinkle currants and cinnamon over the apples. Beat eggs lightly, and then combine with the rest of the ingredients. Pour over apples and bake at 325 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until set. Cool before serving. Serves 8-10. Can be doubled. Makes a good breakfast dish, too, served alongside sausages.
