June 13, 2014 - Now in Healdsburg

  • Lucy and Ray dancing

Come hear Tony McManus, celebrated Celtic guitarist on June 23rd here at the Inn. Gather at 7:00 p.m. at the Inn; the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $20/per person and includes the evening’s music, beverages and dessert.
Enjoy great music, beverages and dessert. Call the Inn for details: 707-433-8182.

Lucy’s dad, Ray, has taken up dancing…following in Lucy’s “footsteps,” he has become part of the fun group at Arthur Murray’s. Here’s a photo of them at a “Mash” TV progam-themed dance party.

More dancing -- and great music -- can be found at the Tuesday evening concerts in the Plaza. The food is amazing, too… beignets from Parrish, lamb tacos from Mateo’s, baklava from Sofia’s Taverna, paella from Partake by KJ and more. A gourmet selection! Book now and we’ll provide the blanket for your picnic. 707-433-8182.

This 4th of July here starts with a piece of Americana – the Boy Scouts annual pancake breakfast, up at the historic and woodsy Villa Chanticleer Annex. The Scouts even serve real Vermont maple syrup. Folks then head to the Plaza for a free day of fun: picnicking, a pie-eating contest, kiddie parade and more. By then, it’s time to watch one of the biggest fireworks displays north of San Francisco at the High School field. We have a couple of our off-site cottages still open for the 4th. Call us be part of this day in the country. 707-433-8182.

We just had an incentive trip for a group of eight couples from a company based in Ohio – several had never been to wine country and all had a wonderful time! They enjoyed a lovely catered buffet beside the swimming pool one evening and visited other local wineries, shopping and restaurants during their four-day visit. We love corporate groups for strategic planning or reward travel.

Looking ahead, we will host another concert on Wednesday, October 29th. Linsey Aitken and Ken Campbell, two of Scotland’s most accomplished musicians, are making their second, return trip to California and we are fortunate to have them perform at the Inn. We’ll serve beverages and dessert, along with an evening of incredible music. October is a beautiful time to spend in wine country. Call us for reservations.

Speaking of Scotland, here is a recipe Lucy’s Scottish husband loves.
Sausage Pie

8 skinless sausage links
¼ chopped green onions
¼ c. or less melted butter
½ grated cheese
¾ c. biscuit mix
2 eggs
3 c. frozen Potatoes O’Brien (thawed slightly)
2 Tblsp. milk, plus an add’l. 1/3 c. milk
6 oz. softened cream cheese
salt & pepper to taste

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a pie plate or use pan spray. Spread in potatoes. Mix onion, 2 Tblsp. milk, cream cheese, salt & pepper and spread over potatoes. Lightly brown links and arrange in spoke fashion over potatoes. Beat together biscuit mix, 1/3 c. milk and 2 eggs. Pour around sausages. Bake 25-30 min. Serves 8.
