The approaching Labor Day weekend may signal the end of summer, but in Healdsburg that just means harvest-time fun.

The Soroptimist’s 28th annual Beer in the Plaza event is September 6th 2-6 p.m. in the Plaza. Over 35 breweries will offer hand-crafted beer. Various food choices will be available and live music will be provided by SoulShine Blues Band. Proceeds fund numerous community service projects. You don't want to miss out! http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/795266

If art AND dogs are your combined loves, join the wonderful artists from Red Umbrella's Open Air exhibitions in the Plaza on August 30th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Red Umbrellas artists will exhibit and sell their original artwork including paintings, sculptures, metal works, etchings, landscapes, abstracts, figurative drawings and mixed media. This is a fundraiser for the Green Dog Rescue Project – stop by the gazebo to interact with their adoptable dogs.

The Asti Tour DeVine bike tour is on Saturday, October 11th, and takes place right here in wine country. October is the perfect season for a bike tour in beautiful Northern Sonoma County. Ride on uncrowded routes through rural valleys, past autumn-hued vineyards, alongside the Russian River, and on pathways overlooking Lake Sonoma. The tour offers many rides to choose from: the easy 25k for the beginner rider and the extreme 100 mile challenge, called the Rockpile Rumble. Along the way, enjoy harvest-themed rest stops and healthy foods and snacks; SAG support too. At the end of your ride, a bountiful luncheon, prepared by the Cloverdale Rotary Club and served with Souverain wines, awaits you in the historic Asti Winery’s courtyard. http://www.astitourdevine.com/

We bid a fond farewell to one of our local stores - the Merc Shop. On August 27th, 5-9:00 p.m., Artist Hilary Williams will take over The Mercantile Shop for their final shindig. Her work will be up through the end of August but this party is THE place to be. The awesome James Seymour, astrologer, will be giving readings and wine, music and fun will be had to send the Merc Shop off in style!

And, it’s not early to think of the Farmers’ Market Pumpkin Festival and Race on October 25th. Vroom – yes, we race pumpkins!
